My Name is Direnc. I’m 23 years old and currently in the third semester of the media informatic master’s degree at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf.
Academics
Helmholtz-Gymnasium
I went to a highschool in Germany, called Helmholtz-Gymnasium. I graduated in 2017 and achieved the Abitur which enabled me to go to a college or university. My main subjects were mathematics and biology.
Electrical Engineering – Technical University Dortmund
My first academical stop was at the Technical University Dortmund where I was attending the bachelor’s degree for electrical engineering in 2017, right after high school. This only held for one semester though, as I quickly realized that it’s going too deep into the hardware part of our highly paced digitalizing world. That was, when I realized high level software development being more in my interest.
Information Systems – Stuttgart Media University
I signed up at the Stuttgart Media University in 2018 for information systems. I’m highly interested in software development, data science and devops. That’s how I chose my elective programs:
– Bringing augmented reality to Future Retail scenarios
– Applying CNNs on diving videos in Deep Learning
– Analyzing whine and online article performance data in Trends in Data ScienceÂ
– Using modern ELK stack to visualize and analyze data in Visualytics
… just to name a few.
Media Informatics – University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf
After graduating in information systems, I wanted to dive more into software development topics. That’s why I decided to continue with a master’s degree in media informatics at University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf.
Career
Second Level IT Support – Knorr Bremse AG
From 2018 to 2019, I began as a working student in Second Level IT Support at Knorr-Bremse.
– ²nd Level Support mainly via ServiceNow
– Windows 10 rollout (for about 250 employees)
– Windows Active Directory
– Script programming, esp. VBA and Batch
Working Student Software Developer – OMM-Solutions GmbH
From 2019 to 2020 I started my first job as a working student in software development at OMM-Solutions.
– Planning and implementation of automated processes, mainly via Google Apps Script
– Further development of web applications in MERN and MEAN stacks
– Implementation of web services in nodejs
Intern Software Developer – EXXETA AG
In 2020 I started and finished a mandatory internship also in software development at EXXETA AG
– Planning, conception and development of a business application
– Project management in software development
– participation in scrum events (daily, refinement, planning, retro, review)
– Java in backend, React with TypeScript in frontend
– Setup CI-Pipelines with Gitlab CI
– Usage of ESLint, SonarQube, Jest, Cypress

Working Student Software Developer – EXXETA AG
After the internship I continued working there as a working student in software development until 2021
– Further development of the application from the internship
Bachelor’s Thesis – EXXETA AG
In 2021, I wrote my bachelor thesis in software development at EXXETA AG. The title of my thesis is: Developing Applications on edge devices using WebAssembly
I researched how WebAssembly works and how WebAssembly System Interface extends it. I also researched how applications can be written in WebAssembly, shared across programming languages and run on edge devices.
Working Student Software Developer – Exxeta AG
After the thesis, I continued to work as a working studen in software development. In addition, my tasks included writing automated software tests in JUnit.
Working Student Fullstack Developer – NanoGiants GmbH
With the moving to Düsseldorf and the masters, I started working at NanoGiants GmbH as a working student fullstack developer.
– developing a web application with Vue, Typescript and Scss
– developing a backend with Spring and Java
